Lindsay Ellis-Fairhurst - Profile
After an early apprenticeship in Kent as a studio potter, producing wheel thrown domestic stoneware, Lindsay Ellis-Fairhurst went on to study Ceramics at Central School of Art London. She graduated with a BA Honours Degree in Ceramics/3D Design and a Diploma in Ceramics.
Lindsay started her own business, making bespoke tiles and panels for architects and private commissions, specialising in Victorian Tubeline designs.
Lindsay has taught Ceramics at FE and “A” level for 13 years part time at a variety of Art Colleges around the country including Rochdale, Cumbria, and Maidstone and has worked as a visiting lecturer delivering tile workshops at the Boston Institute in Boston Massachusetts USA.
From running her own business, Lindsay went on to work for major manufacturers in the UK gaining 20 years experience in the product development and design of 3D ceramic, glass and resin prototypes for both small and large manufacturers/distributors in the UK and USA. These included B&Q, the Victoria & Albert Museum, Fired Earth and Menards (USA). One product - “Unity”, a range of modular glass tiles, won an Elle Decoration Award (2006).
Recent opportunities provided the catalyst for expansion into becoming an Arts Practitioner working in the Greater Manchester area, delivering workshops for schools and communities.
